Luca was born in August 2025 and spent the first few weeks of his life in the neonatal unit before moving to foster care. He has significant and complex health needs, including Caudal Regression Syndrome, which affects the development of the lower part of his body. Luca also has bilateral club feet and requires ongoing specialist medical support. Despite these challenges, he continues to make progress and is surrounded by professionals who are committed to helping him thrive.
As Luca grows, he is likely to require ongoing therapies, specialist appointments and support with mobility. It is anticipated that he will use a wheelchair in the future and may require further medical interventions. Luca will need adopters who can become confident advocates for him, attend appointments, work alongside professionals and celebrate every achievement, however big or small.
Luca has several siblings who live in a range of arrangements, including foster care, with family members and in adoptive placements. Due to his individual needs, the plan is for Luca to have his own adoptive family who can provide him with dedicated care and attention. He has enjoyed spending time with some of his siblings during family time and these relationships are valued.
Luca's carers describe him as a delightful little boy who responds warmly to the people around him. He needs a family who will embrace his uniqueness, nurture his
development, support his health needs and help him grow into a confident and happy young person. Most importantly, Luca needs a family who will love him unconditionally and recognise the huge potential that shines through his bright smile every day.
The current plan for Luca is to maintain important connections with his birth family. Annual direct and indirect contact with his birth parents is planned, and Luca will need adopters who understand the importance of maintaining these links safely and positively as he grows up. Unfortunately, Luca does not have a current plan of staying in touch with his siblings but there is potential for this to develop in the future, and this should be something that adopters feel able to support.
