Sibling Adoption

When me and my husband started on the adoption journey there were so many unknowns. However, for both of us there was one very clearly known requirement; that we wanted to adopt siblings. As adopters we were on a journey together and wanted to be able to provide that space for siblings to journey together too. When all else is taken away often a sibling is all they have left and we wanted to do all we could to keep them together.

Adopt North East were great at helping us find the perfect sibling pair and presented us with the profile of two cheeky but adorable smiling faces. As soon as we saw these both our hearts skipped a beat. We knew they were ours and a few months later panel luckily felt that too, and we were approved as their adopters – their new forever family.

There have been moments of double trouble, but mainly double the fun, double the laughter and double the joy! 

Through our social worker getting to know us we were matched so well, and many adventures have taken place such as sea swims, tree climbing and park walks. Yes – we may have needed to buy two wetsuits, two sets of walking shoes and two pairs of wellies – but they are totally worth it, and we look forward to many more adventures together in the future. 

We would whole heartedly recommend adopting siblings. They give each other a natural support system which is vital and they offer consistency in times of inconsistency.

Going from two to four has taken some adjustment but we would not have it any other way!
