We are looking for a forever family for S.
All about S
S is the most handsome little boy, with beautiful soft and shiny black skin that is lovingly cared for with creams and emollients, and gorgeous brown eyes. He has stunning black Afro hair and a twinkle in his eye. He is 1 year and 5 months old and of Ugandan and Somalian heritage.
Since being discharged from hospital, S has been with the same foster carer, an experienced provider who has offered him excellent, consistent care.
His foster carer describes S as a pleasure to care for and a delightful little boy who is very laid back, easily settled and very loving. He is full of confidence and as soon as he wakes up, he has a constant smile and happy outlook brightening everyone’s day! He is becoming a wonderful, loving, caring little boy. He is very inquisitive – when a photo is taken of him, he likes to see how it has turned out. He is very captivating!
S lives in a busy household with five other children aged between 3 and 18. He has had such a huge impact on his foster family, who describe him as very funny, a born entertainer, loves to play hide and seek and mostly, one of the family! He fits in so well and is adored by everyone, which is testament to the character that he is. S loves to watch the older children in his foster family play and wants to join in, especially when they are having fun dancing and singing in front of the television. Equally he enjoys playing on his own, at his own pace.
S is an adventurous, spirited and generous little boy who has the most wonderful ability to draw you in. He has a charismatic smile which makes him a real joy to be around. He loves to dress up – his Hungry Caterpillar costume a firm favourite – and enjoys listening to books be read to him.
S is incredibly active, always on the go. He is very adventurous and loves to explore his environment. He’s fearless – from diving headfirst into ball pits, to climbing confidently, he has advanced large motor skills. He is a complete natural when it comes to anything physical; he could so easily aspire to be a Mountain Climber or Footballer! Give him a football and he will chase and kick it with such enthusiasm and surprising precision! His climbing ability is extraordinary, and he enjoys soft play and bouncing on the trampoline.
S is also a natural problem solver. When he wants to get somewhere, he’ll find a way – like moving a chair to reach a door handle! With all that activity, it’s no surprise that he is a good eater and open to trying new foods.
At bedtime, S settles well. He has a good routine and happily goes to see in his own cot and room without needing a night light.
Bath time is another favourite – S is very much a water baby! He doesn’t mind having his hair washed and enjoys baths with emollient or event sitting in the shower. It goes without saying that he loves swimming too!
On top of his physical skills, S has great rhythmic and musical abilities. He loves to play the drums to the rhythm and beat of music. He has a wide taste in music, ranging from nursery rhymes such as Wind the Bobbin Up (his favourite) to tunes by Bob Marley like Three Little Birds, or Benson Boone, Beautiful Things. He’ll stop what he’s doing to hum and sing along in his own way. He is very entertaining and reels in the attention given to him.
S is also a budding film critic. He loves Annie and Frozen, happily watching them on repeat. He’s clear about his taste though – he prefers the newer versions and will let you know if the originals aren’t his cup of tea! He also loves the new Wonka new film.
S does show signs of delay in his speech and communication skills, but he is very expressive and able to convey his needs clearly through facial expressions and gestures. His foster care understands him well and says that although he doesn’t speak many words, he “says a lot” through his mannerisms. S recently started nursery to help support his communication and he is really enjoying the structured environment.
S has had a difficult start to his early live but since moving to foster care he has benefited from consistent and loving care and good routines.
S has older siblings, and it is hoped that they can have contact throughout their lives, so adopters would need to be willing to support this.
